Year 5
Introduction - Mrs Perkin
Year 5 is the penultimate year of the children’s journey at Oakridge as they enter KS2. During this year, they will develop all the skills and knowledge required to take with them into year 6. They thrive on becoming more independent learners by reflecting and taking ownership of how to take their learning forward and what they need to do to succeed. The Oakridge Way is the heartbeat of the class and is never more prevalent than on our Year 5 residential trip to Standon Bowers. Here, during the many exciting activities (and housekeeping chores), the children display the ‘canopy’ attributes of resilience, resourcefulness, reciprocation and reflectiveness along with heart-warming gestures of encouragement for each other. The embedded ‘root’ values of kindness, respect, being trustworthy and well-mannered ensures that the children have the most wonderful week away and come back even more confident and independent both in and out of school.
